AGARTALA, Feb 20 (TIWN): Northeast Sculpture Camp in Wood Carving and Artist in Residency Programme in Painting have been organized on Saturday at Government College of Art and Craft, Lichubagan.
The programme was organized with the initiatives of the regional centre of the Lalit Kala Akademi of Kolkata in the collaboration with the Government college of Art and Craft.
The programme was inaugurated by Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha Jitendra Chaudhury in the presence of Indrapramit Roy an eminent artist, Director of Higher Education Dr. Bipradas Palit and others.
During the programme, Rajib Mondal from West Bengal, Subash Basumatari of Assam, Shiva Prasad Marar of Assam, Pragyan Chakma of Tripura, Sukanta Paul of Tripura, Abhijit Sarkar of Tripura, Robert James of Nagaland, Ajay Kanwal of Baroda, Abhishek Pandey of Varanasi has also participated at the programme.
It is to be mentioned here that Lalit Kala Akademi or National Academy of Art is India's national academy of fine arts.
The autonomous organisation has been established in the year 1954 at New Delhi by the Government of India.
The objective of the Akademi is to promote and propagate the Indian art within the country and outside the country.
It is to be mentioned here that in the year 2015 Government of India took over the management for the control of the Academy.
