TIWN

AGARTALA, Feb 16 (TIWN): CPM Central committee kicked off the three days emergency meeting on Tuesday to address the whole situation of the tie up issue at Delhi. The leaders of several states would discuss the matter over the resolution and recommendation sent by state committees. It is to be mentioned here that the tie-up issue of West Bengal pushed the entire Party into a jolt within the party. South lobby of CPM led by party hardliner Karat and ESR Pillai referred the decision of Party Congress and stood against any tie-up with Congress in anywhere. The final decision on the issue will be taken by the party's Central Committee on February 17-18.The Politburo meeting on Tuesday will be followed by another of the Central Committee on the next two days. Last week, the CPI(M)-led Left Front in the state had formally agreed to discuss the issue of alliance with Congress, if it was approached. However, On the alliance controversy CPM Polit bureau members and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar are busy in attending West Bengal state Committee meeting along with Prakash Karat and other senior leaders of Party. Bengal leaders of CPM initiated the tie-up approach with the help of some Congress leaders against the ruling Trinamool Congress in the Assembly Election. On contrary Congress ranks from Kerala and Tripura oppose the move and knocked the door of High Command to mount pressure on those leaders of Bengal who actually carried the proposal forward to Delhi.
The CPI-M in Kerala will certainly face the heat if the CPI-M in West Bengal goes forward with an alliance with its arch rivals here - the Congress party.
