KAMALPUR, Feb 9 (TIWN): In the ensuing VC election the dominance of the CPI-M led Left Front became evident once again here at Kamalpur. The dominance of the Left Front became stronger as the Front secured one VC namely Shimbukchak under Salema Block, without contest by winning five seats among the total nine. At another VC under Durgachowmuhani Block, namely West Lembucharra, CPI-M secured two seats among the total seven without contest.
The ensuing village committee election got sure to show another election of leftist dominance in the subdivision. In Durgachowmuhani Block Left Front filed 42 nominations against 42 seats. Whether, IPFT filed 21 nominations, BJP filed 17 nominations and Indian National Congress became able to file only 7 nominations. Hence for 42 seats 87 candidates filed nominations to contest.
In Salema Block, 169 candidates filed nominations in the field for 80 seats. Among those 80 candidates were from the Left Front. 06 filed nominations to contest from Indian National Congress. IPFT filed 36 nominations. INPT filed 6 nominations to contest. BJP filed 22 nominations. And 16 Independent candidates also filed nominations for contesting.
However, the scenario failed to usher any significant hope for the opposition here at Kamalpur.
