AGARTALA, Feb 8 (TIWN): Aiming to curb down the increasing traffic jam at the Battala junction, the footpaths in front of the Battala market are being bulldozed by the AMC on Sunday.

Reportedly, workers have bulldozed the footpaths in front of the Battala market with an aim to curb down the increasing traffic jam due to the flyover construction work.

With the passing days, traffic jam is rapidly increasing in the narrow roads of Tripura. Although the state government has taken the initiative to construct a flyover to curb the traffic jam but it is seen that traffic chaos is rising in an alarming rate.

At every hours of day, mostly during the office hour the main junction of Battala is witnessed crowded with vehicles blocking the free movement of traffic in the city.

It is expected that for the next two years and possibly more the traffic congestion is going to get worse.

Once fly over is constructed, vehicles from the Nagerjala bus stand will continue to ply on the same path which is expected to reduced the traffic congestion.

The first ever 2-lane flyover in the capital city will lower the traffic jam by at least 40% to 45% and it will make a smooth fast track movement of the vehicles but the period of the construction is creating havoc.

The main motive of creating the Fly-Over Bridge is to seek solution to hectic traffic jam at Battala. As day by day the population and the number of vehicles are increasing, the problem is arising in traffic system too.

However, every day the passengers had to face worst trauma from Bordowali-Battala which is the important landmark in the city.

Though earlier also the people had to face problem due to lack of swift traffic movement but with the beginning of the flyover construction in the capital the situation has become worst.

To ease the everyday traffic jam at Battala junction following the construction work of the fly-over, the traffic department has listed out three different routes which the civilian can use to avoid the daily traffic congestion.

Yet no effect has been observed in the traffic convenient and the day by day the traffic movement has become headache for the passerby.

Besides, the road from Nagerjala to Battala has become congested resulting the parking of vehicles at the no parking zone on the roadside causing inconvenience to the smooth traffic movement, and more seriously to vulnerable pedestrians.

However, with the aim to curb down the rising congestion in the capital the the footpaths in front of the battala market are being bulldozed.
