AGARTALA, Feb 7 (TIWN): On the occasion of the 154th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanda, a child fair and a blood donation camp has been organized at the Krishna Nagar Club and Pragati Play Centre.
The programme has been inaugurated by Health Minister Badal Choudhury in the presence of Club President Sharadendu Chakraborty, Club Secretary Uttam Ghosh and others.
Speaking at the programme, Minister for Health Badal Choudhury appreciated the initiatives taken by the club. Besides, he also mentioned that this kind of initiatives helps the needy people from various sufferances.
Appreciating the initiative taken by the association, Minister Badal Choudhury said that there is no alternative of blood. He appealed to donate blood as much as possible as there is no substitute for human blood.
Saying that the voluntary blood donation movement became a festival in Tripura, the Health Minister urged young people to generously donate blood to save lives.
It is to be mentioned that blood donation is a voluntary procedure. Findings have shown that donating blood reduces the risk of heart attacks and even cancer. It even burns 650 calories for every pint given.
During the program around 25 people has donated their blood.
However, donating blood we can save the lives of the people as there are many patients who had to give up their life due to deficiency of blood. Therefore, blood donation is an important part of social activity.
