AGARTALA, Feb 6 (TIWN): With an aim to maintain peace and to ensure safety in the area, District Magistrate of South Tripura has imposed section 144 at the Indo-Bangla Border Area.
Reportedly, under section 144 some rules have been imposed to ensure peace in the area.
According to the order imposed under section 144, no person will be allowed to move in the area from night 10 PM to 5 AM in the morning. Besides, more than four people cannot assemble in the restricted area.
However, if any emergency comes up to visit the area than the concern person can go for written permission to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
However, if anyone is found violating the rules than strict action will be taken and will be accused under section 188 of IPC.
The Government officials who are involved in important official work, in that case also no action will be taken.
However the order will not be applicable to Army, Para - Military force and State Police who are engaged in maintaining law and order.
This was legally implemented under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which gives the state government broad powers to prevent unlawful assemblies of people.
This provision has been used in the past to impose curfews as a means to prevent protests that can lead to unrest or riots.
