The crisis of LPG cylinders seem to be neutralized shortly in Tripura as bottling is underway at Bishalgarh Gas Bottling Plant without any hurdles.

The Bishalgarh bottling plant in Sepahijala district is currently meeting 86 percent of the requirement and the rest 16 percent is supposed to be supplied from Silchar bottling plant. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) has been looking forward to take the figure of its capacity to 450 MT.

On a normal day, the plant refills 15/16 trucks giving a boost to the LPG supply in the state.

However, the LPG crisis continues to haunt the state as the back log has touched almost a month despite as claimed by the Food and Civil Supplies department.

The sources from Food and Civil Supplies department said that till December 29 the state has altogether received a total of 661 truck of bulk from Bishalgarh as well as Silchar bottling plant out of 761 trucks.

Bottling in Bishalgarh has already is underway in full pace and bottling of 25 truck which consist of 306 cylinders per truck is done regularly.

Apart from the bottling of cylinders at Bishalgarh, at least 10 bulks of cylinders arrives at Agartala in regular interval from Silachar only to put an end to the back log of cylinders in different gas agencies.

It is to be mentioned here that over past many days, cooking Gas crisis has worsened across the state, forcing the domestic users to hit the streets protesting against the acute shortage of LPG cooking gas cylinders at Agartala. Consumers in Agartala are severely hit by the shortage of (LPG) cooking gas cylinders.

Following the crisis of LPG crisis, black marketing was on a rise, with consumers being forced to buy cylinders at prices ranging between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 a piece. Common men are paying almost more than double to buy a gas cylinder. People were left with no option but to buy the LPG cylinder from the open market by shelling out more money. Shortage of LPG has triggered spontaneous protests in many areas across the state. Taking full advantage of the current situation, black-marketers were making money by selling a gas cylinder almost double its price in the market.
