AGARTALA, Nov 29 (TIWN): Construction of fly-over resulted into traffic glitch and the dwellers of Agartala witness’s traffic logjams at rush hour every day, unnecessarily holding up people who are in a hurry to reach their destinations at time.

As scores of vehicles clog the stretch between Bordowali to Battala to Motorstand and several other routes, smooth movement of the traffic is highly distracted leading the common man to suffer immensely.

A section of people raised voice against the traffic police officers as to why have they turned a blind eye towards glaring traffic rule violations in the heart of Agartala city. Resentment brewed up among the locals observing that a large number of vehicles parked illegally at the no-parking zone and on the main carriageways hindering the movement of other vehicles.

Vehicles parked on the roadside in the no-parking zone in the congested areas, especially in commercial hubs, has narrowed the space on roads that can be used by motorists and pedestrians.

On the other hand, no action is taken against vehicles parked in no-parking zones in the select places and the offenders go unpunished at quite a few important locations in the city as the traffic police area allegedly not performing their duty for curbing the traffic chaos.

Interestingly it is seen that government vehicles are openly parked in the no-parking zone including the public as well as personnel vehicles and Traffic department is playing the role of silent spectator. Day after day the traffic officials are organizing rally; awareness campaign and eviction drive with the prime aim to aware the people with the traffic rules and regulations but everything appears to be a game of “first day first show” and after that the saga of traffic congestion continues on the streets under the eye of traffic department.

Increasing vehicular traffic has only made the matter worse and at the same time it has also become more dangerous for commuters in reaching their respective destinations. At any given point of time, it is utter chaos at the roundabout, which witnesses at least thousand vehicles crossing over the same road.

Road blockade, protest rally, construction of fly-over, and many others lead to traffic jam regularly at different spots, leaving the common man to suffer.
