AGARTALA, Oct 30 (TIWN): Seeing the faster progress in the BG conversion work to connect the land locked Tripura with the rail map of the country, the North East Frontier Railway (NFR) plans to run goods train on the newly converted BG rail track up to Agartala December. It is to be mentioned here that BG conversion work from Lumding to Agartala via Karimganj has made a good progress and the BG line from Kumarghat to Agartala has already been completed and eyeing the speedy work progress NFR decided to kick off the goods train service to Agartala by December. However, it is also to be mentioned here that NFR has already decided to build a road over bridge at Teliamura as the people has been demanding for a road over bridge at Teliamura since October 1. Although the BG conversion work is stalled at Teliamura but as the NFR has promised, a road over bridge will be constructed soon to facilitate easy transportation to the people of Teliamura. Keeping in mind the local people’s demand, the NFR has decided to build the bridge at the earliest. It is to be mentioned here that the local people of Teliamura have stalled the BG conversion work at Teliamura in demand of road over bridge since October 1. Due to the strong confrontation from the side of the villagers BG conversion work could not be taken up at around 800 meter area of Teliamura.

However, with the decision of NFR it seems that Teliamura BG conversion work will began soon as the NFR has decided to construct a road over bridge at Teliamura.

Indian Railways connectivity in India’s north eastern region will get boost with the launch of the first ever broad gauge goods trains to Agartala. The latest trend of work at Agartala railway station shows that days are not so far when people of Tripura can travel long distances in BG trains and get connected to rest of the part of the country.

The train service is already suspended from September 20 until the conversion is ended. The service will remain suspended during the construction work and laying BG tracks replacing the meter gauge.

The pace of the conversion work shows that Agartala will soon be connected with the BG track to bring in sync with the rest of the country.

The successful run of the goods trains on the broad-gauge track will bring sync with those in the rest of the country and pave the way for the faster connectivity of the passengers trains to Agartala by Marc h 2016.
