Minor rape accused absconding, Kumarghat Police yet clueless

KAILASHAHAR, October 10 (TIWN): 24 hours passed, Kumarghat Police could not nab a rape accused who has managed to flee after he had raped a minor on October 8.

Reportedly, Police has managed to identify the alleged accused namely Ratan Banik, middle aged man. He has been working in a jewellery shop at Kumarghat Sarada Palli and staying here in a rented house. He is a resident of Badharghat and is a married man.

According to the statement of the victim’s parents, on the day of incident that is on Thursday both the parents were out from the house due to some work.

As there was no one in the house, 6-year old victim went to the house of accused Ratan Banik in the afternoon, whom she use to call uncle. Finding her all alone, accused Ratan Banik attempted the heinous crime.

Later in the evening, when her parents arrived at home she complained about her condition and told everything whatever happened.

Getting no clue of what to do and agitated over the incident the parents made a phone call to accused wife. Hearing everything the accused wife begged the family of the victim for not registering any compliant to the police.

However, late in the evening took the minor to the Kumarghat Hospital, finding her condition critical the doctors referred her to the Kailashahar hospital. Later, they had registered a complaint at the Kumarghat Police Station.
