AGARTALA, September 7 (TIWN): Chief Minister and CPI(M) Politburo member Manik Sarkar while addressing the Students Federation of India 24th State conference of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Saturday criticizing the RSS said the detailed reports of their work being given by Union Government Ministers to RSS leaders at their joint meeting in the Capital is an affront to Indian democracy. Even though no one cares communists in India but Manik said "The recent renaming of Aurangazeb Road in New Delhi is a very unfortunate measure since it is widely regarded as the first step in a campaign to rename historical places and roads on communal grounds. It is regrettable that the Delhi state government under AAP leadership also became a party to this decision. Manik Sarkar demanded that the decision be reversed. "

Manik Sarkar said " It clearly shows that the RSS is not merely the remote control but  is in the direct control of this BJP Government which act as the RSS’s political arm.

The RSS has openly declared that its agenda is the establishment of its ideological project - `Hindu Rashtra’. This objective is against the fundamental tenets of the secular democratic Indian Constitution. This current exercise being undertaken by the Ministers violates the Constitutional oath of office and secrecy that they have sworn to uphold, Sarkar claimed.

As it is, the basic principles of secularism are being threatened by the RSS and its Hindutva front organisations on a daily basis. Many of those attending this meeting continue to make communally inflammatory speeches.   Instead of curbing these elements, the Prime Minister and the Central Government is patronizing and is legitimizing  such efforts."

"The CPI(M) strongly condemns and opposes this blatant  violation of constitutional norms".

"The recent renaming of Aurangazeb Road in New Delhi is a very unfortunate measure since it is widely regarded as the first step in a campaign to rename historical places and roads on communal grounds. It is regrettable that the Delhi state government under AAP leadership also became a party to this decision. Manik Sarkar demanded that the decision be reversed. There are many other ways to perpetuate the memory of the late President Abdul Kalam.   Creating such controversies is, in fact, an undignified manner of paying tribute" - even though Maniks knows that no one has time to hear his utterings.
