AGARTALA, September 2 (TIWN): Despite the fact the Tripura Chief Minister and also a CPI-M Polit buro member Manik Sarkar on Wednesday remained present in his office at the secretariat during the nationwide 24 hours dawn to dusk general strike called by the CPI-M backed trade unions went on amidst some untoward incident reported occurred at the outskirt of the city.
When the entire nation went for a strike on Wednesday to protest price hike of essential commodities and demanding contain unemployment, strict enforcement of basic labour laws and others, politburo member Manik Sarkar was found attended his office at the secretariat on Wednesday.
This had of course dismantled the strike called the CPI-M baked Trade Union. It is being assumed that the CPI-M politburo had not accepted the bandh on Wednesday despite the fact that since after assuming power at the centre the CPI-M party had raised its voice against the Modi government’s policy.
A nation-wide 24-hour strike called by 10 central trade unions on today crippled life in Left ruled Tripura. Government and non-government offices, shops, markets, banks and educational institutions remained shut, while vehicular traffic went off the roads.
All India State Government Employees Federation affiliated Tripura Employees Coordination Committee supported the today's shut down and the opposition parties of the state had earlier pulled out the bandh.
