Agartala-Karimganj rail service to remain suspended from sept.20

AGARTALA, September 2 (TIWN): Eyeing forward to kick off the Broad Gauge (BG) conversion work from Agartala to Karimganj, Tripura would be excluded out of the rail network for more than six months as the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to undertake gauge conversion work from September 20, an official informed.

 The official also informed that, Considering the Mega block work on the Badarpur-Kumarghat, Agartala section (excluding Badarpur station) with effect from October 1st, the train services for both passengers and goods trains will remain suspended from September 20.

The periodicity of work for Mega block conversion will commence from October 1 and will be winded within next 6 months.

Indian Railways connectivity in India’s north eastern region will get boost with the launch of the first ever broad gauge passenger trains to Tripura. The latest trend of work at Agartala railway station shows that days are not so far when people of Tripura can travel long distances in BG trains and get connected to rest of the part of the country.

Adding to that he said the train service would remain suspended from September 20 until the conversion is ended. The service will remain suspended during the construction work and laying BG tracks replacing the meter gauge.

The pace of the conversion work shows that Agartala will soon be connected with the BG track to bring in sync with the rest of the country.

As a part of the faster development in the work progress of the BG conversion work the NFR team has decided to undertake work conversion work from September 20 following which the passengers and goods train from Agartala to Karimganj will be suspended.

It is worthy to mention that the laying of tracks at Charilam is already completed and work is under progress as Gokul nagar.

The successful run of the trains on the broad-gauge track will bring sync with those in the rest of the country and Tripura is gearing up for faster connectivity and communication with several parts of the nation.

Days are not so far when after the BG (Broad gauge) conversion work, Agartala will also be connected with by BG track with country’s railway network.
