Assembly Speaker urges to become self sufficient

AGARTALA, August 25 (TIWN): MLA and Speaker of State Assembly Pabitra Kar while addressing a Gram Sabha of Bridhanagar Gram Panchayat held at Gitabitan Hall said that the Central Government is reducing the distribution of funds in different sectors of the state. Therefore, He urged the villagers to become self reliant in order to develop their livelihood and the village, confirmed an official here on Tuesday.

However, speaking on the occasion he further said that the self help group should indulge into ore activities.

He also advised to lay emphasis on production of Handicrafts, rearing of poultry birds, and cows. He further discussed on the issue that how production of crops can be increased in small land.

He further stressed on the cultivation of Horticulture products.

During the meeting, Vice Chairperson of Old Agartala Panchayat Samiti Nihar Ranjan Sur said that in order to develop and strengthen the infrastructure of the Panchayat people of all section should come forward.

At the meeting, the Panchayat Secretary has submitted the accounts of various development programmes implemented during the financial year 2014-15. At the same time he also highlighted the different development programme taken during the current financial year 2015-16.

According to the reports presented during the meeting, altogether Rs. 29.85 lakh were spent for the various development works at the Panchayat under the MGNREGA scheme and 16, 653 man-days were generated.

Besides, maintenance of 26 ponds was done and 4 new ponds were dig. Five drains, three roads were repaired, 6 lands were repaired and three new roads were constructed.

With the initiatives of the Agriculture Department, 53 seeds of Paddy, various vegetables, fertilizers and medicines were provided.

However, Panchayat Extension Offiecr Safiuddin Ahamed, Chairman of Panchayat Samiti Sabita Das, Member of Paschim Tripura Zila Parishad Mantu Ranjan Das were present at the programme.
