Central provided Rs. 3.42 crore of fund for Silk Printing and Pressing unit

AGARTALA, August 22 (TIWN): Altogether Rs. 3.42 crore of fund has been has been provided by the Central Government for Silk Printing and Pressing unit, said Development Officer of Handloom, Handicraft and Silk Industry Department in a meeting held at West Tripura District Council.

He further said that currently the work of the unit is under progress.

Besides, he said that altogether Rs. 45 lakh has been deployed under the MGNREGA Scheme for Mulberry garden at Mandai, Jirania, Belbari, Mohanpur, Hejamara, Bamutiya and Lefhunga Block under West District.

Altogether 6136 Kilogram silkworm has been produced on July last at Champoknagar and Mohanpur cluster. Therefore, 2 lakh Mulberry saplings has been sold to Manipur state at a cost of Rs. 3 lakh.

Expressing delight he said that earlier the state had to import mulberry sapling from outside the state but now the state are exporting.

Industry and Trade Department works Manager D. Sengupta said that in the current financial year 2015-2016, under the Prime Minister Employment Guarantee project 425 people and under Self help project 887 people will be provided loan.

Village Awareness Programme has been organized at 164 villages and Entry Point Activity at 123 villages were organized.

In the remaining villages te initiatives will be taken soon said D. Sengupta.

However, District Co-ordinator of North East Rural Livelihood Project Bijoy Rudra Paul informed that 2996 Self help group were included under North East Rural Livelihood Project.

Besides, he said that 30 women were of Bamutiya block were given tailoring training.

Apart from this, Mulberry cultivation development officer Tapan Deb, member of the council Sudhir Chandra Sarkar, Kalpana Das, Roma Acharjya and Shanghamitra Bhattacharjee came up with their problems at the meeting.
