KAMALPUR, AUGUST 20, (TIWN): After a long delay the cheated depositors of Small Savings at Noagaon branch post office got a new ray of hope after the initiatives taken by new SDM Subhasis Das.
After he took the charge the committee of cheated depositors met him seeking intervention in the process as the procedure continued for last four months without bearing any result.
Receiving all the relevant information, the SDM wrote to the Superintendant of Posts seeking the present condition and cause of delay. In reply the Superintendent of Posts informed the SDM through letter numbered F.4.3/DNR/2015-16 on 13th August that, the investigation attained its climax. He further informed that, the deposits up to 5, 000 rupees would be dealt with and refunded by the Superintendent office very soon. But the deposits exceeding the amount would be dealt with by the office of the Chief Postmaster General, Shillong.
The Superintendent R. Padmanabhan also assured that he would communicate with the Chief Postmaster General for early remedy of the matter. The SDM informed the entire matter to the Pradhan (village headman) of Noagaon Panchayat. The depositors heaved a great sigh of relief after the initiative of the SDM.
