KAILASHAHAR, August 11 (TIWN): To mark the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Former Chief Minister Dasarath Deb, altogether 1 Lakh saplings will be planted all around the state, said State Secretary of CPM Bijan Dhar.
As a part of the programme, on Monday through a programme State Secretary of CPM Bijan Dhar has planted saplings at Kailashahar Gournagar block office premise.
Addressing at the programme, Dhar said that planting saplings should not be the end of the responsibility of the people of the state.
He urged the people to take care of the saplings as if they are taking care of the former Chief Minister Dasarath Deb.
During the programme, District Secretary Bijoy Roy and Divisional Secretary Lakhan Dhar were present at the programme.
Plants are essential to the balance of nature and in people's lives. Trees are an important part of every community. Our streets, parks, playgrounds and backyards are lined with trees that create a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environment.
Trees increase our quality of life by bringing natural elements and wildlife habitats into urban settings.
Dasarth Deb was born in the year 1916 February 2. He was a political leader in the Indian state of Tripura. He was a leader of the Ganamukti Parishad and the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1952, 1957, 1962 and 1971 from Tripura East constituency. He was also the vice-president of All India Kisan Sabha and the first and yet only tribal Chief Minister of Tripura.
Deb took his last breath in the year 1998, October 14.
