Indo-Bangla good relations to fuel growth towards North East India and Tripura’s economy, says Governor in Tripura Conclave

AGARTALA, August 7 (TIWN): With the possibility of economic enhancement towards the prospect of Northeastern states including Tripura, the second Tripura Conclave was held on Thursday at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan under the initiative of TIWN. The 2015 conclave has come up to introduce the 3rd international internet gateway in Agartala in an elaborate way which eyes forward to explore the land-locked Tripura as a hub to the Information Technology (IT) in NE India.Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy on Thursday had inaugurated the historical event at Rabindra Bhawan in presence of TIWN Editor Saumen Sarker, BBC's Former Correspondent Subir Bhowmik and other intellectuals.Addressing the programme Roy said, “The economic growth of the northeastern states of Tripura can be explored only by the India and Bangladesh bond which is growing fast to explore every possibilities globally.” Adding to that he said that extending the internet bandwidth to northeastern region of India through Cox Bazar Cable Landing Station of Bangladesh would be a boon to the Tripura which would soon in the global roadmap.

10 Gbp bandwidth, capable of being enhanced till 40 Gbp, will be provided for the internet traffic of seven northeastern states- Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

The intellectuals and the IT experts remained present in the Tripura 2nd Conclave said that the NE Tripura has a very golden opportunity to get its IT sector which would further boost the economy of the state. At present India have five international gateways in India – New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.

The experts assumed that the connectivity will facilitate northeastern states to be connected with reliable global telecom network, which will provide high-speed and uninterrupted telecommunication in another six months.

Agartala is all set to become the third international gateway for internet service linking Bangladesh Cox Bazar with the central government would spend Rs. 19.14 crore to create the infrastructure, including laying of Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) to avail the 10 gigabit bandwidth from Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL), BSNL official said.

At present Tripura is connected with Shillong, Kolkata and Guwahati but after Agartala is linked with the high speed internet service with Bangladesh it would further cater the needs of the rest of the states in northeastern region. In fact the entire world would be dependable on us once we get the service, expressed the IT experts remained present in the TIWN sponsored Tripura 2nd Conclave.

The revolutionary pact (India Bangladesh Surplus undersea Internet Bandwidth of up to 10.2 Gbps Sale Agreement) is to unfold multi dimensional positive consequences on the future ways of the state Tripura. And the same is not confined within the set up of few offices of couple of IT giants in the state but the same would also place a multiplier effect in the overall economy of NE India’s second most viable state.

Job opportunities for IT and computer science students, diverse indirect employment, world class IT service for the state people and other government and non-governmental establishments, infusion of multi million rupees into state’s Gross Domestic Product (GSDP), an industry friendly image of state and creation of other subsidiary (like IT’S) industries are some of the rays which would shine in the gloomy industry deprived sky of the Tripura, which is, within next six or seven months would start to function  as India’s third Internet Gateway.
