AGARTALA, August 6 (TIWN): Tripura governor Tathagata Roy's tweets on 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon has at last evoked sharp reaction in the state CPI-M party office with Secretary Bijan Dhar saying that being a Governor once cannot make such unwanted tweets sitting in his or her constitutional posts. The Tripura governor Tathagata Roy on July 31 kicked up a storm dubbing those present at Yakub Memon's funeral in Mumbai as "potential terrorists" on Twitter. However Communist regimes all over world are known for ruthless executions - even in China a convict is usually shot dead right after the verdict.

The reaction by the state CPI-M party has come up on Wednesday only after the Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy’s tweet had rocked the entire nation.

CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar reacting sharp to the tweet said, “It is not appropriate to make such comments sitting in constitutional posts, which caused massive political reaction across the country.” He also said that this is not right way to react on such incident by a governor.

Besides, on the sideline of the issue of the CPI-M’s nation-wide agitation Dhar said that the party in Tripura eyeing forward to intensify the August agitation against the Land Acquisition Bill and others.

He said that as part of the campaign against the BJP led union government’s decisions on lesser budget allocation for agriculture sector and demands for the removal of Land Acquisition bill, 100 days works under MGNREGA etc, the party supporters will form a massive human chain in 96 spots across Tripura on August 19 as part of the protest programme.

Speaking in the press meet, CPI (M) central committee member Goutam Das said that the BJP at the centre does not want to run the parliament democratically. He, however, welcomed the peace accord between India government and separatist group NSCN (IM).

Earlier Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said A terrorist  has no religion. Rejecting the contention that those belonging to a particular community faced capital punishment more, Naidu suggested that in the face of actual data such perceptions would be belied.
"In the recent past, 36 people were hanged. Maqbool Bhatt, Afzal Guru, (Ajmal) Kasab and Yakub Memon... All others are there, I don't want to name the community," Naidu said, in an apparent reference to the Hindu convicts who have been hanged during the period.
Emphasising his point further that terrorist cases should not be viewed as per religious lines, he asked, "Do you want reservation in hanging also?"
The Union minister said that the point of the view of the victims should also be kept in the mind.
The lone Mumbai blasts case convict, Yakub Memon, was hanged on July 30.
