Increasing power disruption on a rise, “CM turns a blind eye,” claims Cong.
TIWN

AGARTALA / KAILASHAHAR, August 6 (TIWN): The opposition party has come up with 11 charters of memorandums at Kailashahar, protesting against the continuous power disruptions and digital meters’ faults which has become a matter of worry for the people of Kailashahar. Pradesh Congress Committee leaders as Rudrendu Bhattacharjee, Nirmal Malakar, Subrata Kumar Deb along with other members placed their demonstration before Plaban Das, Senior Manager of Power Division at Kailashahar on Wednesday.

Cong. claims that Kailshahar is undergoing since last few years in pathetic conditions by continuous load shedding, low-voltage and specially the technical problems in the digital machines, which results in a huge amount of bill which is unacceptable for common people. Moreover, power dept. cuts the line of households without prior notices, whether in Govt. offices sometimes the bill extends over lakhs, claims Cong.

While talking to TIWN, Rudrendu Bhattacharjee, leader from PCC said, “The Chief Minister Manik Sarkar would be neutral while dealing with his ministers. On the one hand he has set an example to be very strict with the Revenue Minister Badal Chaudhury and on the other hand he has turned blind eyes in Power dept. ministered by Manik Dey.”  Such kind of step-motherly attitude causes pains for the state, he added.

Detailing about their demands Bhattacharjee said that “we have placed our demands before the high authority. However Senior Manager Plaban Das has assured us to solve this issue. Now, Congress will wait for 15 days all together and then they will go for protest again for which dept. might have to pay a huge.”

According to Cong.’s demands, the BPL families must would enjoy electrical facilities as per Rajiv Gandhi Electricity Scheme; fault-less digital meter to be set at every houses; BPL families to get 15% subsidy on bill, to involve proper men-power and vehicles so that power dept.’s employees would work well.

Cong. also demanded to the authority to ask the power dept. to send the bill to houses with the tenure of paying bill from date 5 to 15 in a month. It’s important because dept. sends the bill at the 3rd or 4rth week of month, which becomes really an agony for the common people to pay the bill. With that daily 5 to 6 hours load shedding would be immediately stopped, claimed Cong.

However, it’s to be seen whether Kailashahar’s Congress would be successful to draw ministers’ and high officials’ attention after placing this demonstration, regarding power-disruption.
