AGARTALA, August 5 (TIWN): Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman has criticised the three – day Monsoon Assembly Session starting from August 7 next. The three – day session is very short duration to discuss important issues for the interest of the state.
Legislators of the state could have adopted unanimous resolutions on various problems being faced by the state, but Barman criticised the inadequate Session time as one of the reasons that the legislators could not take up important issues.
“Had the duration of the Assembly been fixed for at least seven days, burning issues concerning the state could have been discussed on the floor of the House,” Leader of the Opposition said.
Steps to develop infrastructure to uplift sports in the state.
We can't raise and discuss burning problems being faced by the people of the state in just three days session. In the past too, there have been sessions of short duration," Barman said.
Three monsoon session of the would be beginning on august 7 next. Three bills – the ICFAI University second amendment. The Tripura Cooperative societies 3rd amendment and the Maharaja Bir Bikram University would be placed on the floor of them house on the first day as decided in the meeting of BAC (Business Advisory Committee).
The Maharaja Bir Bikram University Bill was supposed to be placed before the house in the last session of Assembly but it had not taken place due to some procedural errors. If the bill passed in the assembly, the state will have another university. As of now the state has two varsities - Tripura Central University and ICFAI university.
