AGARTALA, May 25 (TIWN): The recently concluded Tripura Tribal Areas and Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) polls have caused a grave concern for the CPI-M with the reduction of vote percentage to nine per cent. The ruling CPI-M here at the state on Sunday has concluded its 2 days state committee meeting at Melarmath party headquarter reviewing its election consequence.

According to the released press communiqué after the conclusion of the state committee meeting, the ruling CPI-M has targeted the emerging Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Pradesh Committee and the distant to second position tribal based political party Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT).

During the 2 days state committee meeting CPI-M discussed that during the recently concluded ADC election, a large section of the tribal youths and the students were made to vote for the IPFT and were lead to support the “Twipra land”.

“The IPFT were on a spree of cash dole before the election and has greed a large section of tribal youths in the ADC areas,” stated the press communiqué. It also stated that the open political organisation of the outlawed NLFT outfit IPFT has used some of the NGOs of the state to stage a malicious campaign against the CPI-M and its Left front govt. at the state.

Besides, the CPI-M during the 2 days meeting has expressed its concern over the growing support of tribal communities for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT). It on its press statement has warned that such support might affect the peaceful co-existence between tribal and non-tribal citizens of the state.

Claiming that the RSS has brought a large number of its workers here in the state from abroad before the ADC election CPI-M in its press communiqué stated that the new forces are trying to polarize the tribal people along communal and ethnic lines by intensifying its campaign for a separate state and religion.

Not sparing the opposition congress even it stated that despite losing its land the opposition congress has been staging malicious campaign against the Left front govt. here.

“A section of media during the ADC elections and before it have acted on behest of the congress here to campaign malicious against the CPI-M,” as usual tendency of the CPI-M stated in its press releaseon Sunday.

Analysing losing of 9.64 per cent vote in Tribal area during a 2 days meeting CPI-M stated, “Congress acted cleverly and has lead the BJP and the IPFT emerge this year in the ADC poll.”

Whereas the Trinamool Congress exhibiting the only signboard at the road side has supported the BJP, stated the press communiqué.

However later in the press release released on Sunday after the conclusion of the 2 days state committee meeting of the CPI-M urged the common mass of the state to strengthen its campaign against the slogan of “Twipra land” as it would be dangerous to the state in future.

In last TTAADC election the tribal-based Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) and Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) grabbed significant 18.06 percent and 10.77 percent of votes respectively. Among the two regional party IPFT is demanding for separate state. The main opposition Congress fell to the fifth position in the vote share, one step behind the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The BJP got 7.87 percent of the votes, the highest share for it in the tribal council elections so far. Registering its worst performance, the Congress secured only 5.49 percent of votes, less than a third of what it got in 2010.
