AGARTALA, May 25 (TIWN): Bus Service through Silchar-Agartala route will begin from Monday. Every day from 6a.m in the morning and 6 p.m. in the evening bus service will function between these routes. Few days ago, the bus service had launched which made travel comfortable for the passengers of the North-East Region.Due to this bus service, travel will be cheaper for the patients to travel Kolkata through this route. Recently, the rapid increase in airfare had become a headache for the middle class people of Tripura. Though normal category tickets are exhausted air tickets under the group category are available in some travelling agencies and they are charging hefty amounts. The driving distance between Silchar and Agartala is 303 km, while the aerial distance from Silchar to Agartala is 196 km and By Train it is 251 Km. Regular bus services connect Silchar with Guwahati, Shillong, Aizawl, Agartala and Imphal through NH 37 and NH 53. However during the rainy seasons, heavy downpour affects the Silchar-Agartala route causing frequent landslides which affects the road transportation.

There is an Inter State Bus and an Inter State Truck Terminus which was constructed in the year 2005. The under construction four lane East - West corridor will connect Silchar in the east with Saurashtra in the west. The two cities are the centre for business activities and consequently hundreds of people commute between these two.  Silchar to Agartala kilometre will reduce saving time and tedious journey.
