KHOWAI, May 24 (TIWN): Convicted during the year 1995 accused identified as Shuproshonno Sarkar sent to jail for 6 years with a fine of Rs. 2000 or else three months more in jail. The accused was arrested on the year 2014, March from Teliamura Trishabari rail station.
The Khowai Additional District and Session Court Judge Babul Majumder on Saturday send the accused Shuproshonno Sarkar for six years in jail and fined him Rs. 2000 failing would be jailed for another three months.
Police arrested the accused on charge of killing another Jagadish Sarkar, resident of Lembuchera under Teliamura Police Station.
The incident occurred on June 26, 1995 at Lembuchera area when Jagadish Sarkar was moving towards his house from Khowai Khasiamongol. Sarkar went to buy fertilizers for agricultural purposes.
Later on the way to his house his neighbour resident Shuproshonno Sarkar managed to attack him on his head by an iron rod and left him seriously injured on the road side. The concerned villagers getting an alarm taken Sarkar to the local hospital where the attended doctor declared him brought dead.
FIR was lodged with Khowai Police station. Police registered the case against Shuproshonno Sarkar under Section 302/34 IPC Act. The case no. was 91/1995. The then Khowai PS Sub-Inspector Satyabroto Gupta investigated the case.
A total of 14 witnesses deposed before the court and later the court convicted him on charge of killing his neighbour Jagadish Sarkar. Since then the accused remained absconding whereas the court
However, later hearing the case on Saturday the court jailed him for six years and fined him Rs. 2000.
