Police likely to frame strong chargesheet against expelled CPI-M leader Jiten Das on Kalpana Das murder case

AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): With no further development to the Kalpana Das murder case the highly placed source of police on Sunday talking to TIWN said that the investigating agency of the murder case would have to own separate strategy to bring confessions from the accused persons. “Police is now eyeing forward to frame a strong chargesheet against accused husband Jiten Das in this case,” said source.

Yet after the passage of 18 days that expelled CPI-M leader Jiten Das’ wife Kalpana Das was murdered, the investigating agency of police are still in dark with accused Jiten Das and others.

On a telephonic conversation with TIWN on Sunday a highly placed source of police said, “Accused Jiten Das recently during the interrogation said that his house members are engaged to Kalpana Das murder, but has not revealed the name of anyone.”

The source also said, “No major clues could be brought out from Jiten during the interrogation, because he was found to be a very ‘clever’ man.” Adding to that the police source said that since after his arrest police could not found any relevant statement from him that would have boost the investigation in order to crack down the case.

“Police have owned multi-phased strategy in their interrogation to Jiten, but he was found giving no relevant account,” source said.

However later adding to that the source told to TIWN that a stern charge sheet needed to be framed against Jiten Das as was done during the Ganadoot triple murder case where mastermind Sushil Chowdhury was jailed.

The source also said that as of now the investigating agency had interrogated more than 15 people regarding the murder case of Kalpana Das. Besides, police is also interrogating another suspect Shibu Das.

Asked about the forensic report of the two recovered weapons, the police source said, “As of now police has got no report through which we can understand whether the weapons were used on the murder case or not.”

The two sharp cutters were recovered from backyard of Jiten Das’ house near the river at Ranirbazar. Police suspect the weapons were used during the murder but those were sent to the forensic laboratory for further tests.

However, it is to be mentioned here that all the four accused including the alleged mastermind Jiten Das would be produced before the court on May 8. Accused expelled CPI-M leader Jiten Das is currently grilled at Bishalgarh central jail.
