Udaipur police lock­-up death: MLA and Human Rights Commission visits the house of the deceased

UDAIPUR, May 2 (TIWN): MLA Pranajit Sinha Roy and delegates of Human Rights Commission on Saturday visited the house of the person who had died in the police lock up on Friday. However, no progress of investigation of the mysterious murder been known yet.

However on Saturday morning, MLA of Udaipur, Pranajit Sinha Roy had visited the house of deceased Noor Islam and spoke with the relatives of late Noor Islam. It is to be mentioned that MLA had also provided financial assistance to the family. After that Mr. Roy visited the R.K. Pur P.S and asked for the smooth and quick result of the investigation.

Soon after MLA, delegates of Human Rights Commission, headed by Samarjit Bhattacharjee went to the house of Noor and also extended their helping hand towards the family members.

It is to be mentioned that, a 42­ year­ old Noor Islam detained for allegedly harassing PWD official at Udaipur, died under mysterious circumstances in police custody early morning on Friday. However police sources informed that Noor Islam died at R.K. Pur police station due to heart attack. But, family members of the deceased allege that he was beaten to death by the police.

Noor Islam, a resident of Chanban, was arrested on Thursday from PWD office in Udaipur when he was harassing a PWD official, said police. However, Noor Islam's family alleged that the police had beaten him to death, and after he died, his body was sent to Tripura Sundari Hospital and his family was not even informed about it. "Around 10 am on Friday, we got the information from a relative of our working in the hospital that some policemen had dumped him there," they said. Initially, policemen in the hospital told Noor Islam’s family that he had died due to heart attack. Meanwhile, heavy police force has been deployed at the morgue of the district hospital where Noor Islam's body has been kept since family members and people hailing from his locality have gathered.
