Congress comes down heavily on Manik Sarkar over Pecharthal Buddha temple firing in wake of ADC poll

AGARTALA, May 1 (TIWN): Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President Birajit Sinha recently coming down heavily on the negligence role of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said that the incident occurred at Pechartha where several innocent REGA workers along with the Chakma community people were injured by the bullet firing by the police would caste an adverse impact on ADC election to be held on May 3.Hitting hard to Manik Sarkar in wake of the ADC poll Birajit Sinha said, “CM Manik Sarkar has not even condemned the shooting incident yet today since after it has occurred as he does not believe any religion.”Adding to that Sinha said the incident still brewing tension among the Chakma community people of Pecharthal Block as yet today the community who were injured by the bullet firing has not got justice. Besides, the firing at the concerned Buddha temple has triggered a massive panic among the community.Sinha claimed, “due to the negligence role of the state govt. in this regard the Chakma community people along with the deprived REGA workers had decided not to vote for the CPI-M this time.”

Sinha recently said, “It is very unfortunate that during the violence the Chakma community was tortured by the police by its firing on the concerned Buddha Mandir temple, where a large number of protestors on the very day were found took shelter to get rid of police firing.”

Adding to that Sinha alleged, “The police open fired on the very day at Pecharthal acting on behest of the local CPI-M leader Samar Roy.”

Congress working president Ashish Saha talking to TIWN recently said, “With the public hearing called on April 25 over Pecharthal violence is a dramatically framed strategy of the state govt. to hush up the police firing case and to make a free movement for Manik Sarkar, so that he can eye wash the deprived Chakma community in wake of the ADC poll.”

It is worthy to be mentioned here that with the tension prevails among the Chakma community over police firing at Unakoti Buddha Mandir temple, the delegates of the community had also staged a dharna at Delhi recently. The community seeks justice to the brutal torture on them.

Besides, a joint delegation of Tripura Rejyo Chakma Samajik Parishad , Tripura Chakma Students’Association and Pecharthal Udayan Buddha Bihar recently met Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and submitted a 7 point proposals of solution about resentment of Chakma community for police firing at Udayan Buddha Bihar on April 13.
