AGARTALA, April 28 (TIWN): BJP president Amit Shah on Monday expressed confidence that it would tackle the problem of illegal migration from neighbouring Bangladesh. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief, who arrived here on the last leg of his eight-day tour of the northeast region, appealed to the people of Trpura to vote for his party and get freedom from illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. While addressing a public gathering here, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Shah said: "Poverty stricken Bangladeshi people infiltrating northeast without any check. Hence, the central government not only tightens the security along Bangladesh border, but also giving an apt reply to the firing from across the Pakistan border."He said the northeastern states did not see real development because of deep corruption. "Corruption has to be rooted out from northeast so that people of the region see all-round development."The maiden rally by the party president definitely boosted party’s future course of action in the state with a view to dismantle the corruption ridden Manik Sarkar Govt. within 2018.He also accused the Communist Party of India-Marxist -led Left Front government in Tripura of "mis-governance".

Many top leaders of the opposition Congress and the ruling CPI(M) are on the verge of joining the BJP in the proposed rally and the process will just make Manik Sarkar and company more worried, claims political pundits here.

Though BJP has made some progress in building the party’s support base in the hills recently, the party is yet to make any noticeable impact among the mainland voters of the state.

Only time will say how the BJP president will bring about the much needed transformation of the low profile party in the state and to organise the party to be recognised as a party to reckon with the left front’s last baston.
