AGARTALA, April 26 (TIWN): New twist revealed in the multicrore MGNREGA case under Bishalgarh R.D. Block. Two more persons namely Jiban Bhowmik and Pradip Deb were arrested in connection with the case. With that name of another 21 accused including Jiban and Pradip were also come under the limelight of the police. Therefore, now, a total of 33 accused were focused in this multicrore MGNReGA Scam.

Police Sources informed that yesterday Jiban Bhowmik was arrested from Charilam. It is to be mention that Jiban earlier worked as a LD Clerk in Bishalgarh R.D. Block. On Saturday, police succeed to arrest another person namely Pradip Deb of A.D. Nagar. Pradip is by profession a contractor. The allegation that was brought against Pradip was that he had supplied materials without any valid supply order.

Police sources further informed that, police were trying heart and soul to crack the hard’s nut crack. Though police admits that there were no political pressure, but still a question arises then how Bimal Chakraborty, prime accused in the muticrore scam were roaming freely on the basis of bail. Why police fails to submit the final chargesheet on due time?

It is to be mentioned that Bimal Chakraborty belongs to a powerful CPI-­M family and close to Manik Sarkar. His elder brother Amal Chakraborty is CPI­M youth wing DYFI’s Secretary. Another elder brother Kamal Chakraborty is Commandant of Tripura State Rifles and eldest brother Shyamal Chakraborty is a Chemistry teacher in Calcutta University who is proposed to be Vice Chancellor of newly coming Tripura state university.

After the submission of 1350­page partial charge sheet into multicrore MGNREGA scam of Bishalghar RD Block on January 16, the Additional District and Session Court, West directed the investigation officer to prepare and tender the complete charge sheet within two months, said the official source. But even after passing more than two months, no proper steps had been taken. Despite that till now two accused of MGNReGA scam Mita Malakar and Debasish Nandi still fleed away from the trap of police.
