KAILASHAHAR / AGARTALA, April 24 (TIWN): With tension prevailing among the Chakma community over police firing at Unakoti Buddha Mandir temple, the delegates of the community have demanded for the suspension of Superintendent of Police (SP), Unakoti L. Darlong soon. Congress Working President Ashish Saha claimed, “The public hearing called on April 25 at DM office is nothing but a preplanned drama of the ruling CPI-M to clear the path of Manik Sarkar and his election campaign at Unakoti”.Saha talking to TIWN on Thursday evening said, “With the public hearing called on April 25 over Pecharthal violence is a dramatically framed strategy of the state govt. to hush up the police firing case and to make a free movement for Manik Sarkar, so that CM can eye-wash the deprived Chakma community in wake of the ADC poll.”It is worthy to mention here that recently CM Manik Sarkar had cancelled his scheduled election campaign visit to Unakoti district as the tension still prevailing among the deprived Chakma communities over the police firing at Unakoti Buddha Mandir.

But the public hearing on March 25 called at DM office has recently faced another censure as the opposition claimed it to be a strategy of the state govt. to eye wash the community.

Saha also said, “To move free in the ADC election campaign at Unakoti District the public hearing was called so that the state govt. could eye wash the deprived community and hush up the entire Pecharthal violence.”

Adding to that he said, “It is absolutely a shame for the state govt. here where the deprived REGA workers from their wages had to sustain bullet-injured by the police while seeking their minimum wages that remained pending since 6 months.”

The Chakma community demanded that on the very day at Unakoti Pecharthal Block the police opened fire on them and on their religious temple acting on behest of the Unakoti SP L. Darlong. However the community demanded the suspension of Darlong soon.

It is to be mentioned here that a joint delegation of Tripura Rejyo Chakma Samajik Parishad , Tripura Chakma Students’Association and Pecharthal Udayan Buddha Bihar recently met Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and submitted a 7 point proposals of solution about resentment of Chakma community for police firing at Udayan Buddha Bihar on April 13.
