More suspects likely to be arrested soon on CPI-M leader Jiten’s wife Kalpana Das murder; Jiten hired killers; Jiten’s illicit relation with brother’s wife prime cause;  Jiten and brothers produced at court, Police demands 12 days remand, get 6 days

AGARTALA, April 18 (TIWN): With a major twist to the development of CPI-M leader Jiten Das’ wife Kalpana Das murder case, the 4 accused persons comprising of Jiten and his brothers and nephew were produced before the court on Saturday. Police arrested them formally on Friday evening. However, according to the highly placed source from police it was revealed that more suspects linked to the case likely to be arrested soon. At least another 3 persons are involved in killing of Mrs. Kalpana Das, which includes two local mafias named Dipak and Jiban and a hired Bangladeshi killer.A huge rush of a public could be witnessed at the court premises from Saturday morning. The accused were produced in court after 2:00 PM after conducting medical tests.On a telephonic conversation with TIWN on Saturday noon, Ranirbazar PS Officer in-charge (OC) said, “The accused were brought to the court on Saturday after 2:00 PM.” Adding to that he also said, “Police demanded for 12 days remand for the four accused persons.” The 4 accused are CPI-M leader Jiten Das and his two brothers Atindra Das, Satindra Das and Jiten’s nephew.

However, besides, the police on Saturday demanding for a 12 days police remand for accused Jiten Das and other 3 accused persons submitted a case diary with the court. Police demanded for the remand in order to trace the mastermind of the incident. Later the court ordered for 6 days police remand for Jiten Das and his two brothers and nephew.

Police registered a case under section 498, 302 and 34 (IPC Act)

Police also said, “Several evidences were collected by the police during the investigation linked to the murder case.” He also said, “The police investigation would be conducted in full swing and besides some other suspected persons would also be interrogated soon.”

Tripura Police formed a SIT (special investigation team) comprising Addl  SPs R.L.Meena, D.K.Saraswati, SDPO Tapas Deb and four inspectors Kamalendu Bhowmik , Manik Debnath , Nityananda Sarkar and Sursen Tripura to investigate Kalpana Das murder case. Though Police is unsuccessful to trace the murder weapon, but Detectives are hopeful that murder weapon will be traced soon along the Howarah river which is 7 to 10 minutes walk from Jiten Das's ancestral home in Briddhinagar village under Ranirbazar Police Station outskirts of Agartala.

Besides, according to the highly placed source from police it was revealed that some more suspects would be arrested very soon on charge of endorsing the murder of Jiten’s wife Kalpana Das.

Earlier according to another source of information it revealed that due to handsome bank balance of Kalpana. But it is worthy to be mentioned here that the alleged illicit relation of accused Jiten with his expired brother Lt. Ratindra Das’ wife Sibani Das would also be summoned by the police very soon. And following this some more suspects would also be arrested most likely.  

After a long phased interrogation by the police CPI-M leader Jiten Das was arrested on Friday evening on charge of killing his wife Kalpana Das. Police also arrested Jiten’s brothers Atindra Das , Satindra Das and his nephew Sidhartha Das.

It is worthy to be mentioned here that after the incident took place on Thursday morning all the four accused persons Jiten Das, Atindra Das, Satindra Das and Sidhartha Das were brought to Ranirbazar Police Station at around 11:00 PM on Thursday.

However the incident had of course brought another major embarrassment for the ruling CPI-M party with the party on Friday evening expelled its leader Jiten Das, after he was arrested along with his two brothers and nephew.
