AGARTALA, April 18 (TIWN): On another major twist to the Kalpana Das murder incident on Saturday accused husband Jiten Das reads a story of dacoity before the court. He said, “Kalpana had not committed suicide rather a group of miscreants and dacoits had entered the room with an intention to kill Kalpana.”Besides, most surprisingly accused Jiten Das on Saturday in the court premises replying to the question of the media persons said, “I do not have the bank pass books and other documents of my wife Kalpana. All the docs are with SDPO (Sadar) Rajendra Dutta.” However the statement has of course brought another twist to the incident of Kalpana Das murder.It is worthy to be mentioned here that on Thursday after the incident occurred, during the police interrogation CPI-M heavy weight leader Jiten Das stated, “Kalpana Das committed suicide as she was suffering from mental illness.”Lawyer Raghunath Mukharjee has been acting as a defence lawyer of accused Jiten das while Lawyer Swapan Saha as a govt. lawyer.It is to be mentioned here that BJP State President Sudhindra Das Gupta earlier putting a reaction to the incident said, “If the Tripura police investigate the incident, then there would be a chance for the culprits to get escaped from the trap.”

However, besides, the police on Saturday demanding for a 12 days police remand for accused Jiten Das and other 3 accused persons submitted a case diary with the court. Police demanded for the remand in order to trace the mastermind of the incident. But court granted only 6 days remand.

Tripura Police formed a SIT (special investigation team) comprising Addl  SPs R.L.Meena, D.K.Saraswati, SDPO Tapas Deb and four inspectors Kamalendu Bhowmik , Manik Debnath , Nityananda Sarkar and Sursen Tripura to investigate Kalpana Das murder case. Though Police is unsuccessful to trace the murder weapon, but Detectives are hopeful that murder weapon will be traced soon along the Howarah river which is 7 to 10 minutes walk from Jiten Das's ancestral home in Briddhinagar village under Ranirbazar Police Station outskirts of Agartala.

According to the highly placed source, during the police interrogation Jiten’s younger brother Satindra Das had delivered some clues to the police linked to the murder incident.

Though it’s a time now to witness how the police move forward with its clues and evidences to bring a development to the case. Because, allegation has also been raised against the police by a section of locals after the incident took place.
