 TTAADC Election: Tentative date ends for withdrawal of Nomination: 79 highly sensitive and 360 sensitive areas prevailing

AGARATALA, April 17 (TIWN): The tentative date for the withdrawal of nomination papers of TTAADC Election had ended on Thursday. According to the latest report there are 1071 polling stations for the upcoming election. Among the polling stations, 79 are highly sensitive areas, 360 are sensitive areas and 632 are normal areas.

Apart from that in the 28 seat election the candidates contesting are 177. In the Machmara and Karomchara constituency there is highest number of candidates resulting to 9 and in 8 seats there are 5 candidates. The party wise number of candidates is, CPIM- 25, CPI-1, Forward Block-1, RSP-1, Congress-28, BJP-28, Trinamool-18, IPFT-27, INPT-28 and Independent Party-1.

The political parties in Tripura like Congress, CPI­M, BJP, INPT, IPFT and other parties gearing up to ensuing good result in the forthcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election. Almost all the parties have started campaigning in favour of their candidates. Besides, the police administration is also preparing a massive security arrangement to conduct the TTAADC polls in a peaceful atmosphere, said a source.

However in the upcoming TTAADC Election, 16 observers had been appointed in the 28 district council constituencies for smooth election process. The office of the Election Commissioner of the Zilla Parishad had issued this notice. It is to be mention here that the TTAADC election will be conducted on May 3 where, 58,554 voters including 3, 75,117 women are eligible to exercise their franchise.

Counting will be held on May 6," The TTAADC was formed in January 1982 under the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution and later its powers were promoted by amending the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution in August 1984 to protect and safeguard the political, economic and cultural interests of the tribals. The tribal council constitutes two third of the state territory and home to the tribals who form one third of the population.
