In necessary the candidates may withdraw their nomination papers by April 16. Earlier, the election commissioner for Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) issued notification as per provision under sub rule (2) of Rule 14 calling upon all the 28 constituencies on April 04.

The election will be held on May 03 and counting will take place on May 06. The term of office of the present Autonomous District Council will expire on May 19. The election commission has decided to use EVMs in the general election to district council in all polling stations. Adequate numbers of EVMs have been made available and all steps have taken to ensure that the polls are conducted smoothly with the help of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM’s).

Altogether seven lakh fifty eight thousand five hundred fifty four voters will exercise their franchise in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.

It is to be mentioned here that Communist party of India (Marxist) state committee has already announced the list of candidates’ name who will be contesting in the 28 assembly constituencies under district council.

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is gaining momentum day by day in Left dominated Tripura with hundreds of new corners joining the party every week. Since the Panchayat election BJP has been setting its footmarks in different parts of the state especially in the villages and towns. At present even a huge section of the grass root workers of CPI (M) and Congress has started to accept BJP as a platform for raising their voice of protest against the miss rule of CPI (M).

The Left Front for having their orthodox mentality and they haven’t served the common people. The uninterrupted 22 year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated, the source alleged.
