KHOWAI, April 9 (TIWN): The infuriated farmers under Khowai Tulashikhor Block on Wednesday said “No vote to ADC” this year as they were deprived at large from farming since more than two years. More than 80 tribal farmers of the area are deprived form an irrigation channel at their 500 hectares of land. The deprived farmers of Minister Aghore Debbarma’s constituency (Asharambari) today alleged, “There are no use of taking up the issue with the minister as he only comes here when the vote comes, and rest of the period of time he gives a deaf to the deprivation of the concerned farmers.”

The resentment brewed up among the farmers on Wednesday after the CPI (M) workers lead by CPI (M) former secretary Bishwajit Dutta went at Badlabari village, Jyoggo Cobra village, and Nanda Kumar village under Badlabari ADC village as part of their campaign for ADC poll. However later Dutta assured them that the matter will be looked after the ADC poll.

According to the report during the 2013-14 Financial Year (FY) Tulashikhar Block had sanctioned Rs. 8 crore for setting up irrigation channel across 3 km of the area under the three villages. But amongst it only 2.50 km has been covered with the channel yet today leaving the rest part paralysed. The work was done under the leadership of Tulashikhar Block engineer Birbhadra Debbarma.

However, the incomplete work has lead 80 to 85 farmers helpless with no agricultural farming due to the lack if irrigation channel across 500 hectares of land.

Talking to the concerned DWS SDO Othelo Dewan, he puts his finger towards the Tulashikhar Block administration. It is mentionable here that the tribals of the area are dependent on farming activities to earn their daily livelihood.
