According to sources, after the ADC elections, the School Education department will place its requisition for teachers at all levels with its teacher recruitment process. As per the government’s decision, no teacher will be appointed without conducting Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). The board will conduct the TET to fill vacant teacher posts. However, the exact date for conducting TET is yet to be finalized. The department will fill up the vacant posts of LDCs and Group-D on its own. Meanwhile, School Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty was scheduled to held a review meeting on the department’s performance today. P r i n c i p a l Secretary Dr. G Kameshwar Rao, Director of School and Inspectors of Schools in West district was also scheduled to attend the review meeting.

It is mentionable here that to put a transparent process in course of candidate selection to make appointment at different levels of School Education department including Teacher Eligibility Test, the state government had constituted a 5-member professional body as Teachers’ Recruitment Board this year. The board comprises of Dr. Anup Dutta as first chairman of the board, member secretary and three members respectively.

Besides, earlier this year the state govt. has announced the new teacher's employment policy, thereby changing the system after 44 years. The state government had given green signal to the National Council of Teachers' Education (NCTE) guidelines for recruitment of primary and upper-primary teacher with the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) made mandatory. Therefore the new appointment to the teachers after the TTAADC election will be given after conducting the TET examination.
