AGARTALA, February 28 (TIWN): Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) in collaboration with Information and Cultural Affairs Department will organize state level tribal traditional dance and song competition at Khumlung on March 01.
Speaking to the reporters at Agartala Press Club Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Ranjit Debbarma today said that the TTAADC has taken the initiative to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous people of the state. This initiative will also provide a platform to the local performers of the state to hone their skills, Ranjit Debbarma added.
He further said that like all other tribal groups in the world, the tribal people of Tripura are too rich in cultural folklore which has been handed down from generation to generation and is facing challenges of extinction due to modern waves of life. These have also created an ethnic identity crisis among them. So, to restore and revival of the colorful traditional heritage of Tripura tribes is the main objective of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Debbarma added.
In the state level competition traditional dances of tribes like Reang, Chakma, Jamatia, Kaloi, Lusai and Uchoi will be performed, he added.
