Agartala, Oct 15: With a view to further strengthening the health services in Tripura and providing better medical services to the people of the state, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday between the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Tripura government and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
The MoU signing ceremony held at Tripura Bhavan in New Delhi was attended by Chief Minister Manik Saha.
Saha said that this MoU is a matter of pride for us to transform the state's medical colleges, including state and district level hospitals, into centres of excellence for international standard medical education and super specialty services.
He further said that the state government has planned to transform Agartala Government Medical College and GB Pant Hospital into a medical hub with modern medical facilities, which will be built on the model of AIIMS, New Delhi.
The Chief Minister cum Health Minister further said that AIIMS is a world-renowned institution, which is well known for its pioneering role in medical education, research and advanced patient care.
He further added that this collaboration between the Health Department, Government of Tripura and AIIMS, New Delhi will be marked as an important step in improving the quality and scope of health services across the state.
The event was attended by AIIMS Delhi Director Dr. M. Srinivas and senior officials of the Health Department, Government of Tripura.
