AGARTALA, Sep 6 (TIWN): A Sonamura woman, Ruchiya Khatun, has approached the state Chief Minister seeking help after allegedly being harassed by police at Bishalgarh police station. Her pickup vehicle (TR 08-1507) was stolen a day after she purchased it on January 9, 2021.
According to her, the thieves used the vehicle to transport cattle, which met with an accident in the Bishalgarh area, resulting in the deaths of the thieves and the cattle.
The Bishalgarh police registered a case, and Ruchiya received a bail order from the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Court on July 24, 2024. However, despite running from pillar to post for over a year, the police have been giving her the runaround, promising to return the vehicle "today, tomorrow, or the day after."
The police allegedly refuse to disclose the vehicle's whereabouts, and sources suggest that the vehicle's parts may have been sold, according to her statement.
Ruchiya has now sought the Chief Minister's intervention to get her vehicle back.
