AGARTALA, Nov 30 (TIWN): “Street vendors in various states of India were particularly financially affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Thinking of them, the Prime Minister launched a scheme called PM Svanidhi Yojana in India,” said AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder in a loan distribution program.
This scheme is aimed at improving the financial status of vendors. Through this scheme, a collateral-free loan of Rs 10,000 is provided to street vendors. If that money is returned within a year, a loan of Rs 20,000 is provided later, thus there is a provision to provide loans up to Rs 50,000 in this scheme.
As part of the fortnight-long campaign of 'Swa-Nidhi Bhi Swabhiman Bhi Pakhowara' from November 18 to December 2, the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Deepak Majumdar, handed over the loan cheques to the street vendors at a function organized at the East Zonal Office of Agartala Municipal Corporation today.
Besides, East Zone Chairman Corporator Sukhumay Saha and other corporators of East Zone were present.
Along with disbursing this loan today, a health camp was also organized for street vendors. The Mayor informed that so far, 1417 street vendors have been given loans of 10 thousand rupees each in the municipal area. 448 people have been given loans of twenty thousand rupees and 113 people have been given loans of fifty thousand rupees.
He also appealed to everyone to repay the loan on time and take advantage of the opportunity to borrow more money.
