Agartala, Feb 06 (TIWN):The education minister Tapan Chakraborty statement tabled in legislative assembly today have shown the government schools not in good light, but most of the schools, especially of the sub urban and rural area’s stand with lack of infrastructure.
Replying to a question of opposition Congress MLA Ratan Lal Nath, the minister said 325 schools do not have toilets, 453 schools have no drinking water facilities and 1777 schools do not have play grounds.
The minister in reply also stated that 293 schools do not have required furniture’s, 3403 schools have no power connection.
Some of the government schools in the city don’t even comply with the Right To Education (RTE) Act standards for infrastructure. Under the act, schools must have basic infrastructure facilities like an all-weather building with at least one classroom for every teacher and an office for the head teacher.
