SpiceJet to withdraw another flight from 1st Feb; Union Civil Aviation minister visit postponed

Agartala, Jan 28 (TIWN): The spice jet is all set to withdraw permanently another flight from Agartala – Kolkata route from 1st February even after claims from Tripura transport minister Manik Dey that no more flights would be withdrawn.

While interacting with reporters at secretariat in last 16th january, he claimed that authority of civil aviation ministry is meeting with J.K. Sinha, Joint Resident commissioner of Tripura Bhawan  at Delhi has assured that no more flights would be cancelled further henceforth.  

In spite of assurance, Spice Jet in the recently released flight schedule for Agartala sector has withdrawn one from 1st February     bringing down the number of flights from nine to eight. So far spice jet two flights were in service in Agartala – Kolkata route, from 1st February only one flight would be available in this route. The flight which will be withdrawn have the capacity to carry 190 passengers, this means it would further aggravate the existing problem of air ticket crisis and passenger rush. Meanwhile, secretary of transport department    Samarjit Bhowmik informed reporters that  the schedule visit of union civil aviation minister  of Gajapati Raju  on 29 January  in Agartala  has  been postponed , however he will visit Guwahati airport. As earlier stated that the union minister Raju would visit Agartala airport and meet  chief minister Manik Sarkar to discuss wide range issues related to modernization of the airport,  air ticket crisis and flight shortages.
