AGARTALA, Dec 10 (TIWN): Tripura Human Rights Organization observed International Human Rights Day, and held a rally that was participated by various professions people, social workers, youth on Sunday. Addressing media, Tripura High Court Senior Advocate Purushottom Roy Barman, Secretary of the Tripura Human Rights Organization said, “We are observing the Human Rights Day standing in a difficult situation. When Gaza is attacked everyday and killings of innocent are unstoppable in our own country, free speech is at danger”.
“Black laws are being used to put everyone in jail with anti-national tag whenever a person criticizes the Govt. An unannounced emergency has been imposed. Unfortunately, the people who are given duty to uphold the Human Rights are failing to do so. In Tripura, people have no minimum freedom to speak out against the injustice but the Human Rights Commission is silent”, said Barman.
“Human Rights Commission and Women Commission’s work is not to praise the Govt but to stand beside the victim, but in Tripura they are just doing the opposite”, said Barman.
