AGARTALA, April 8 (TIWN): Tripura Royal family has criticized Tripura Govt for organizing a dinner program at Durbar hall of Ujjayanta Palace, saying it has violated the sacredness of the Durbar Hall which was never used earlier for entertainment or dinner-like gatherings. Tripura Royal scion Pragya Debbarman told media that the place has always been used for serious talks or religious issues but such a decision of the Govt is condemnable.
She also mentioned this Ujjayanta Palace was earlier used as State Assembly before museum was established there. So traditionally, the hall was dedicated for state affairs, discussion but never of this kind.
Total 150 delegates from various countries visited Tripura from China, the US, UK, Australia, and Brazil like countries.
According to NDTV, Pragya Debbarman stated, "Unfortunately, the identity of the Durbar Hall is being tarnished now by the state government and this has shocked us. On the one hand, they speak of respecting our centuries old Indian culture, the visionary Maharajas and our rich historic past but on the other hand, parties are held, such hypocrisy must be known and be condemned by the people”.
