AGARTALA, July 19 (TIWN): It has been a year since Village Committees were expired in Tripura ADC but BJP Govt has remained too afraid to conduct any poll there led the strongest indigenous party Tipra Motha to knock High Court as all funding is paused which is preventing the development in the ADC areas. The ADC poll of 2021 April was also conducted after in similar way Tipra Motha party filed a case and then High Court ordered poll’s completion. Today, High Court passed an order on Village Committee polls asking the State Govt and Dept to finish the poll by November, 2022. Advocate Anthony Debbarma told media that State Election Depot and State Govt’s intention was not to conduct the election and thus the state gave excuse about festivals like Durga puja and various other issues for delay of the polls.

“We respect all religions and communities programs, but the Village Committee poll is on hold for a year. We placed deputation, repeatedly requested the Election Dept to conduct the Election but now, the excuse of festival is nothing just to delay the Election. We asked, if festival is the issue, how cum by-poll took place. However, Court has asked the Election Dept to conduct election by November. Although it is too late as Assembly Election is coming, still we on behalf of ADC and Tipra Motha welcome the verdict”, said Debbarma.

Anthony Debbarma also stated, “Why does not the Govt releases the funds for village development to ADC administration when Election is on hold ? It is a deprivation to the 13 lakhs indigenous population of the ADC area”.
