AGARTALA, March 29 (TIWN): Opposition parties in Tripura need more hard work on strike days instead of demanding a ‘spontaneous’ public response to the strike. Like yesterday, the strike failed to bring any impact on Tripura, especially in the capital city Agartala. Vehicle movements continued and maximum shops were opened. In fact in the last four years, this strike has been the most failed strike for CPI-M and Left parties. No picketing was allowed to the youth activists which has erupted in heavy resentment. Moreover, CITU which is the main behind supporting the 2 days strike, held a press meeting with all 60+ senior citizens, giving no scope for the youth wings.

On the other side, BJP youth wings displayed much effort to make the strike unsuccessful. They held rallies, the pressure was created to open shops. However, Opposition leader Manik Sarkar was silent.

Talking to vehicle drivers, workers they said, when already economy is down and they are reeling under suffering, 2 days work break will hamper their livelihoods more badly.

However, shopkeepers at the capital city Agartala gave better response than other sectors by keeping their shops closed. Amid unsuccessful strike 60% shops in Sakuntala market and other main town areas were in shuttered-down condition.
