NLFT camping along international border :Chief Minister;  Citizen Portal to be launched soon: DGP Nagraj

AGARTALA, January 3 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar again today cautioned the activities of banned militant outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) in hilly and bordering parts of the state.Sarkar reminded that NLFT is still camping in the habitations along the locations Indo-Bangladesh border.During the Police day parade programme at AD Nagar Police ground he said, “Though the violence by NLFT militants are almost under control here in Tripura but the security forces must have to keep a strict vigil along the Indo-Bangla border areas.” Addressing the police day parade programme at AD Nagar police ground, he made tough on NLFT militants urged the security forces of the state to keep a strict vigil along the Indo-Bangla border areas. “With the help of the common mass of the state the police forces moved forward to diminish the terror activities in Tripura, but we have to much aware of the existing NLFT militants along the border areas”, said Sarkar. He further added that , though the terror situation here in Tripura is almost under control, but the international and the national terrorists are wide spread. Therefore the security forces of Tripura have to stand erect in bringing the situation under complete control, said CM.

 Sideling the issues of the rising rate of crimes against women here in Tripura, CM Manik Sarkar said that the state govt. will not tolerate such a social unrest. Following the increasing arte of crimes against women Manik Sarkar urged the police to strengthen the investigation and its infrastructure so that the people involved in such crimes cannot flee from getting punishment. Besides, talking about the road traffic accidents CM said that the rush driving should be checked strictly and the vehicles should be examined well before the road permit.

However, the Director General of Police (DGP) K. Nagaraj during his speech said that citizen portal will be launched soon here in Tripura though which the common mass of the state can directly interact with the police through internet and scrap their suggestions. Later highlighting the crime data of the year 2014 he said that general crime here in Tripura has been reduced by 12%, property crimes by 22% and road accidents by 12%. “We are now looking forward to bring all kinds of crimes under control and bring it to zero here in Tripura”, said K. Nagaraj. He further added that the toll free number 1091 has helped a lot to control the crimes against women here in Tripura.

Talking about the police duty meet held on December 26, Nagaraj said that the meet had aimed to enhance the quality of investigation resulting in increase of conviction rate.

However, during the programme today along with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and DGP, Chief Secretary G.K. Rao and other senior police officers remained present. The march passed by the uniformed police platoons today marked the day.
