Ghosh Kumar Para BOP,South Tripura, January 2 (TIWN): 'Pakistan's ISI has been supporting anti-India activities by pushing more Bangladeshi migrants into the region, influencing ethnic Muslims towards fundamentalism and directing the North-East insurgent groups to keep the cauldron of terrorism boiling', said Chief Minister Manik Sarkar while interacting with the BSF jawans after inauguration of Ghosh Kumar Para BOP in South Tripura, here today.Chief Minister Manik Sarkar acting sharply on the rising rate of crimes in the bordering areas urged the concerned BSF Jawans to act more active in bringing the situation under control. Stressing on the completion of the pending wire fencing work soon at the bordering areas seeks a report of the kidnap cases that occurred during the past 2 to 3 months here in the state Tripura. He urged the BSF, Tripura Police, Assam Rifles forces and other security forces of the state to keep a strict vigil along the bordering areas on a joint operation. ''Our misguided youths are being trained as militants inside Bangladesh with the help of ISI,’’ Sarkar claimed, adding that the ISI has been working against India, especially in the North East long before India liberated Bangladesh from East Pakistan.

The main aim of ISI is to bleed India. Therefore it is not only assisting Islamic terrorist outfits but also supports several terrorist groups of north east India, including United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), People’s Liberation Army (PLA), National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), North East Students Organization (NESO), All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) and National Liberation Force of Tripura (NLFT). ISI helps these insurgent groups through its establishment in Bangladesh.

However, Sarkar claimed that the insurgency problem in his state was on the decline, with several NLFT and ATTF cadres eschewing the path of violence. ''We have developed a holistic approach to this problem (insurgency). We have provided development in practical term and 50 per cent of the government funds are meant for development,'' he said.

It is mentionable that, a total of 64 Border Out Post (BOP) are present in the state. Out of the 64 Border Out Post (BOP) 22 BOP are in operation at present. The remaining 42 BOP will become operational soon. Four Indian northeastern states of Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Assam share an 1,880-km border with Bangladesh. The mountainous terrain, dense forests and other hindrances make the unfenced borders porous and vulnerable, enabling illegal immigrants and intruders cross over without any hurdle.

India is erecting a fence and putting up floodlights along the 4,096-km India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram to check trans-border movement of militants, and to check border crimes.
