AGARTALA, January 2 (TIWN): It sounds bizarre but appears to be true, even after massive loot of MGNREGA fund came under limelight. Workers across the rural state have been alleging irregularities in MGNREGA wages. REGA workers of Shikaribari Village Committee Panchayat under Ambassa sub division today coming down heavily on the Panchayat members locked the Panchayat office. They alleged that they are not getting the REGA wages since one month, and the concerned Panchayat members has been playing a role of a silent spectator leading to a massive irregularities in REGA payment.

Earlier a section of REGA workers of Jartoli Panchayat under Kailasahar sub division alleged that they have a received a very minimum wages after their work. Some received Rs. 120, some Rs. 100 and some other workers have received only Rs. 85, alleged the locals.

It is mentionable here that the state Tripura is already under the limelight of massive corruptions and scams in MGNREGA fund. And besides, such an irregularities in REGA wages under almost every Panchayats of the state are often coming out highlighted where the workers are being deprived at large and often they show a protest infront of the panchayats. But the administration has been playing a role of a silent spectator, with the state govt. leaving no stones unturned.

And what makes another interesting story is that, when the REGA workers here in Tripura are already deprived from their deserved wages, on the other the Tripura CM Manik Sarkar has been demanding for the withdrawal of the curtailment of MGNREGA fund here in Tripura for the benefit of the poor people of the state. However to comment here, Manik Sarkar might be excavating another pathway for the corruption and scams.
