AGARTALA, Jan 13 (TIWN): Few villagers occupied road and constructed homes illegally, resulting around 20/25 families have no road to come out from their homes, victim villagers demanded immediate alternative road. The illegal road blockade occurred in ward no.-5 of Rangauti gram panchayat under Gournagar block in Kailasahar.

Around 20-25 families residing in Ward No-5 of Rangauti gram panchayat and since past 60-70 years the villagers are moving on temporary Kaccha Road  but 4-5 years ago few villagers started living by constructing homes illegally occupying the road. Several times the matter was informed to the local panchayat authorities but the panchayat authorities could not resolve the issue permanently.

After listening to the villagers, Bishal Kumar former SDM assured them that their roads would be restored in accordance with the legal process, and accordingly, Vishal Kumar initially ordered demarcation of the road in Ward No. 5 to restore it. But after he was transferred in 2020, again villagers occupied the road illegally and now the victim villagers are forced to move over Public’s house.

Two DCMs of the administration, Surya Kumar Debbarma and Andrila Majumder, along with other officials of the Land Revenue Department, along with a large police force of Iranian PS , TSR forces rushed to the area and took initiative to re-demarcate the road. But doubt is rising among locals whether this time the solution of road will be done permanently or not, or else like before the road issue will remain unsolved.
